October 23-24 & 30, 2020
As expected, our Halloween Spooktacular events will look a little different this year. We are working with new health and safety guidelines, restrictions on social gatherings, a loss of indoor facility usage and the need to remain fiscally responsible. That being said, we are excited to present a series of engaging activities for all community members to enjoy. We look forward to your participation.
Halloween Decorating Contest
Halloween makes for a fun time to decorate your home or place of business. We invite community members to go all out when it comes to decorating the exterior of your home. Businesses are encouraged to decorate either their interior or exterior with eye-catching displays. A fun prize and bragging rights will go to the top two homes and one place of business. Judging by SBRP staff will take place on Thursday & Friday October 29th and 30th. Register online or call our office by Tuesday October 27th to enter.
Not-So-Scary Night Hike
October 23 | Wheeler Nature Trails | 6:30-7:30 pm
Fall is a wonderful time to get outside and enjoy a walk in the woods. Doing so at “night” during the Halloween season is even more exciting. Participants need to be sure to dress for the weather and bring a headlamp or flashlight. We will leave from the dirt parking lot at the trail entry at 6:30 pm. As a courtesy to others, we kindly ask that all pets remain at home.
Community Pumpkin Carving
October 24 | City Hall | 12-2 pm
Bring your pumpkin to our carving event and leave the mess for us. We will supply all of the tools, spooky music and supplies necessary.
Community Halloween Bingo
October 24 | Veterans Memorial Park Band Shell | 2:30-4:30 pm
What’s more fun than playing ordinary Bingo? Playing it outside of course! Pack a blanket and some snacks and come join us in the park for a fun afternoon of excitement. This socially distanced event will take place in front of the band shell at Veterans Memorial Park. This free event will be limited to 150 people. 1 bingo card per person.
Community Glow Walk
October 30 | Market Street (Retention Pond) | 6-8 pm
Come take a stroll along the path around the retention pond on Market Street. This event is appropriate for all ages. We’ll have Halloween lawn inflatables and an abundance of fun decorations. This is a fantastic opportunity to get outside and enjoy the spirit of the holiday. We kindly ask that all pets remain at home. There will also be a vendor selling hot chocolate to keep you warm.
