Theft of Bicycles

An estimated one million bicycles are stolen in the U.S. each year, which amounts to a loss of $250,000,000 each year. Most bicycles are stolen from the home and because of lack of traceable identity, most stolen bicycles are not returned to their owners.

There are many instances where stolen bicycles are sold to “bicycle chop-shops” and

stolen bicycle parts are sometimes sold on ebay.
