1. Market St. Reconstruction Project begins next week

South Burlington STP 5200(17) Market Street Reconstruction

 WEEKLY PROJECT UPDATE August 5-11, 2018

Work is scheduled to begin the week of August 6, 2018. The contractor, J.A. MacDonald, is planning to begin mobilizing equipment, installing construction signs, and marking out the limits of the project.

There will be some minor traffic delays associated with these activities. Your safety is our top priority so remember to follow all traffic control signs and provide the flaggers and workers your undivided attention.

 2. Water Quality Week

Governor Scott has proclaimed next week to be Clean Water Week and next Friday to be Water Quality Day. The City of South Burlington is participating in a celebration of clean water by hosting tours at our local wastewater and stormwater facilities and coordinating with the Champlain Water District for tours at CWD’s drinking water facility. The tours will take place on Friday August 3, 2018. A full schedule is provided below. We’ve arranged the timing of events so that individuals can attend one or all three facility tours in the morning or afternoon.

 Water Quality Day Tour Schedule in South Burlington for August 3, 2018

  • 8:00 to 9:00 am - South Burlington Wastewater Treatment Facility Tour
    • Meet at the wastewater treatment facility located at 1015 Airport Parkway, South Burlington, VT
    • ANR Secretary Julie Moore has tentatively indicated that she will attend.
  • 9:30 am to 10:30 am - South Burlington Stormwater Facility Tour
    • Meet at Farrell Park (off of Swift Street near the intersection with Farrell Street, behind the Vermont Gas building), South Burlington VT
    • ANR Secretary Julie Moore has tentatively indicated that she will attend.
  • 11:00 am to noon - Champlain Water District Tour
    •  Meet at 403 Queen City Park Road, South Burlington, VT
  • Noon to 1:00 pm -South Burlington Wastewater Treatment Facility  
    • Meet at the wastewater treatment facility located at 1015 Airport Parkway, South Burlington, VT
  • 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm - South Burlington Stormwater Facility Tour

SOUTH BURLINGTON BIKE AND PEDESTRIAN FEASIBILITY STUDY

The CCRPC and the City of South Burlington initiated this scoping study to analyze and evaluate the feasibility of pedestrian and bicycle facility improvements at the following four locations considered gaps in their active transportation system:

  • Spear Street from U.S. Forest Service Building to Shelburne town line
  • Hinesburg Road from Williston Road to Kennedy Drive
  • Allen Road, Harbor View Road, and Baycrest Drive | Allen Road from Baycrest Drive to Shelburne Road; Harbor View Road from Shelburne Road to Baycrest Drive; Baycrest Drive from Allen Road to Harbor View Road
  • Fayette Drive from Queen City Park Road connection, south and parallel to Shelburne Road
