Message From the Director

Hello South Burlington!

I hope that you are well, and continue to be well through this next phase of social distancing and sheltering in place.  It has been wonderful to keep up with all the creative ways that we are supporting one another as a community, albeit at a distance.  From back yard tea-parties six feet apart, to front window scavenger hunts, grocery and pharmacy deliveries to door steps or just random acts of kindness; we are all looking for creative ways to take care of one another through this.

I am reaching out today to ask for your assistance and commitment to yourself, your family and your neighbors.  PLEASE MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE AT THE PARKS!!!!  Being outside is essential to both our physical and mental health during this difficult time, but many in our community are feeling that it is not safe, because people aren’t practicing the recommended social distancing. Please do so on all pathways, on all trails and in greenspaces. To help ensure this, I ask that you keep your dog leashed at tall times too!

Our Parks Staff are in the process of making signs and caution taping off all of the equipment within the parks system and I ask that you observe and respect these closures.  Playground equipment, swings, courts and fields will be closed for public use until further notice. The Recreation and Parks Department website will be updated when the equipment is back up and available for general use. Our Department website is also a resource for other virtual activities as we look toward a Red Rocks Hike tomorrow night, a spring flower slide show to be put up later in the week and regular updates as we have them.

Let’s, as a community, commit to doing all we can to keep ourselves and one another healthy through this. As a professional, as a neighbor, as a mom- I ask you- PLEASE RESPECT THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF SOCIAL DISTANCING AND OBEY ALL PARKS SIGNAGE!!!!  Your community is counting on you.

THANK YOU FOR DOING YOUR PART!!!!
Holly
