Kimball Ave Bridge Closed for Repairs

KIMBALL AVENUE BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED TUESDAY 9/29  - THURSDAY 10/1

The Kimball Avenue Bridge which links South Burlington to Williston will be temporarily closed on September 29 to facilitate much needed repairs.

The bridge was put in place after the washout that occurred two years ago during a heavy rain on Halloween evening.  The State had a modular bridge left over from use during Hurricane Irene that they provided so that the busy connection over the Muddy Brook River could be maintained until a permanent connection can be built.  The permanent bridge may be under construction as soon as next summer.  In the meantime, the current bridge surface needs repair.

Below is a timeline for the work on the bridge;

Tuesday 9/29 – South Burlington crews to remove existing pavement
Wednesday 9/30 – South Burlington crews, under the direction of VTrans bridge staff, will tighten the bridge plate bolts and perform other repairs as necessary
Thursday 10/1 – ECI Paving will repave the bridge with 1” of type 4 mix

The bridge will be closed to all traffic at 8 AM on 9/29 and be reopened by 4:00 PM on 10/1. Detour signs are in place.
