Please take note of the following information for voting in the 2020 General Election.
Ballot:
Every active registered voter in South Burlington was sent a ballot by the Secretary of State’s office at the end of September. Due to the Executive Order, any new voter who registers with the City will also receive a ballot without needing to request one. If you have not received your ballot yet, please call 846-4105 ASAP.
Register to vote:
If you need to register to vote, please go to www.olvr.sec.state.vt.us to register or, come to City Hall between the hours of 9-12 and 1-4 to register and receive your ballot. We recommend that you register as soon as you can, to make sure the ballot has time to reach you through the mail.
Returning your ballot:
There is a secure night drop box located outside the main door to City Hall that is available 24/7 for the return of your ballot. Deadline for the drop box is 7 am on Tuesday, November 3.
If you are mailing them back, the Secretary of State’s office has given a guideline that you mail them back no later than October 27th to give the Post Office the time to deliver them. Vermont will not accept any ballots after the polls close at 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
REMINDER: The City Clerk's office will close at noon on Monday, November 2—the day prior to election.

Polls:
The polls will be open on November 3rd from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and BYOB (Bring Your Own Ballot). The ballot that the Secretary of State’s office mailed to you is your official ballot. So please remember to bring your ballot that you received in the mail with you. If you lost it, destroyed it or never received one, you will fill out an affidavit stating such and will be given a new ballot. Face covering is required at the polls. We will be sanitizing the voting pens after every use and feel free to mark your ballot at home prior to coming to the polls to lessen your exposure. Everyone who comes to the polls can feed their ballot into the tabulator (ballot counter).
