Council Approves MOU on Airport Operations

Council approves three party MOU related to the Airport

The South Burlington City Council has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City and the Cities of Burlington and Winooski.  The leadership of the three communities came together to reach agreement on ways to address concerns related to operations at Burlington International Airport that have an impact on the quality of life of residents in each community.

The MOU creates an agreed upon framework of facts and conditions that describe the history of noise externalities in the areas of the cities adjacent to and nearby the Airport to include the mapping of noise.  The MOU also speaks to previous actions by the Airport to remove housing from the most deeply affected areas of South Burlington and to transition any further noise abatement programs toward insulation and away from demolition.

The MOU then describes actions that each community will take to collaborate on identifying funding for continued noise insulation of homes in the most highly impacted areas of the community.  You can read the entire resolution nearby.
