Spring Ahead

While we are in the deep freeze of winter now, sooner rather than later, the snow will melt and we will be given the green light to get on the fields and kick off the spring season of play.  We hope this comes with a healthy population and fewer restrictions that allow us to offer a full slate of programs, but even if we are still masked, distanced and limited in gatherings, we will make those accommodations to ensure success.  We have been working with the South Burlington Little League Baseball and Softball Board and will be getting out details from them soon about their new program offerings, as well promoting our own youth Lacrosse programs in the  coming weeks. League decision makers are taking the month of January to meet and develop outlines of what programs could look like and we have been imbedded in that process to ensure that we approach the spring seasons with the needed protocols in place; eager to support the needs and desires of our very active community. We hope to release registration details for our spring sports season in February, so stay tuned for updates.

Additionally, we are looking to further greater community opportunities to get out in the parks by starting a new food truck series this spring called  TNT “Thursday Night Take-out”.  We plan to host a variety of food trucks at Veterans Memorial Park each Thursday evening in May and June.  Participants could feel free to take food home, or find an area of the park to settle in and enjoy.  This is a precursor to our more robust SoBu Nite Out Series planned for Thursdays in July-August which host a dozen food trucks each night alongside a free concert.  While we are not sure what will be allowable for gathering size this summer yet, we are moving forward with plans for this full series; knowing that we will need to be mindful of any updates to guidelines. In the recreation world, you hope for the best, expect the worse and plan for all scenarios in-between.  Whatever opportunities are permissible, we will be ready!
