Hinesburg Road Pump Station Incurs Damage

Hinesburg Road Pump Station Incurs Damage

Early Sunday morning, November 13, 2022 a vehicle ran into the Hinesburg Road pumpstation causing considerable damage to the building.  This is the largest of South Burlington’s 34 pumpstations.  Wastewater operations were not impacted other than a ruptured drinking water line which caused drinking water to run out of the building, damage to the wall and the backup generator was badly damaged.  Champlain Water District staff were able to shutoff the drinking water line into the building and South Burlington Public Works Department along with Water Quality then covered the hole in the building and hooked up a portable generator to the building for backup in the case of a power outage.  The building had recently been painted by local artists.  Wastewater staff noted that no cows recently painted on the pumpstation were injured in the event.  Thankfully there were no serious injuries.
