Join library staff for a meet and greet with Marje Von Ohlsen, former SB Children’s Librarian, on April 20th, 11:00 am in the Marabella KidSpace. We will be dedicating the new collection of Caldecott award-winning pictures books, selected by the American Library Association since 1938. The Caldecott medal was named in honor of 19th century illustrator, Randolph Caldecott. His illustrations were unique to their time and illustrators now aim to match his humor, ability to create a sense of movement, vitality and action to complement the picture books for which they create art. “Miss Marje” served at Children’s Librarian at the South Burlington Community Library from 1994 to 2010. Marje led many initiatives in our high school location, in partnership with the Director, Louise Murphy, including fundraising and advocacy for a larger children’s space, developing a bookmobile service, and inviting new babies and their families in for an annual Baby Brunch. Light refreshments will follow the program.
