National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Last week, April 9 -15th was National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time to recognize and thank the unsung heroes of public safety.

Everyday thousands of calls are made to police, fire and rescue agencies throughout the country requesting some sort of help or assistance. The overwhelming majority of those calls are taken by public safety telecommunicators or dispatchers. In South Burlington our public safety dispatchers are the first voice people hear in a medical emergency, when a loved one is missing, when a house is on fire, or simply when some help or guidance is needed. Without our dispatcher’s public safety grinds to a halt. Thank you to our dedicated Dispatchers, Adams, Shepard, Yandow, Hegenauer, Spedden, O’Dea and Howard.
