Accepting Applications for City Committees

Each year, City Council solicits applications for residents to serve on committees. Terms of appointment can last from 1 to 3 years, with reappointment possible. We are now accepting applications for the following committees:

Affordable Housing Committee                   OPEN POSITIONS: 3                        Meets 2x each month. 
Responsible for advising the City Council on policy related to housing in South Burlington.

Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee                 OPEN POSITIONS: 5                        Meets monthly. 
Oversees and advises City Council and DRB on the City's recreation path system and future development.

City Charter Committee                                 OPEN POSITIONS: 2                       Meets as necessary. 
Advises City Council on City Charter, recommends amendments as required.

Development Review Board (DRB)               OPEN POSITIONS: 3                       Meets twice a month. 
Reviews and approves development proposals for commercial and residential property.

Dog Park Committee                                      OPEN POSITIONS: 1                       Meets as necessary. 
Advise Council on dog park guidelines and best practices.

Economic Development Committee             OPEN POSITIONS: 1                       Meets monthly. 
Advises City Council on ways to attract new enterprises and maintain a diversity of thriving businesses that 
contribute to the vitality of our community, municipal services, and education system.

Energy Committee                                          OPEN POSITIONS: 6                       Meets monthly. 
Addresses the City's goals to promote energy efficiency, affordable energy and lessen our reliance on non- 
renewable energy resources.

Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee     OPEN POSITIONS: 2 
Maintains application materials, financials, and other records. Monitor the operation and activity of the Housing Trust Fund and distributions to assure compliance and conditions under which funds are granted or loaned.

Library Board of Trustees                                OPEN POSITONS: 4                        Meets monthly. 
Works with Library Director to develop goals and policies to meet Library's mission. Addresses community needs during growth and development of new Library facilities. Fundraising experience desired.

Natural Resource Committee                           OPEN POSITONS: 3                          Meets monthly. 
Conducts studies and management plans for natural resources in the City; proposes strategies and policies to Planning Commission.

Pension Advisory Committee                          OPEN POSITONS: 1 
Reviews South Burlington Retirement Income Plan and investments. makes recommendations to City Administration.

Planning Commission                                       OPEN POSITONS: 3                           Meets twice a month. 
Drafts long range plans and land use regulations for City Council. Undertakes special studies on land use issues.

Public Art Committee                                        OPEN POSITONS: 1 
Will make recommendations on a selection of artists and an acquisition of permanent public art located on property owned or controlled by the City.

Recreation & Park Committee                          OPEN POSITONS: 3                             Meets monthly. 
Works with Recreation & Parks Director to review current programs and suggest additional opportunities.

INTERVIEWS:  Interviews of applicants will be held at the City Council meeting on May 20, June 3, and June 17. You will be contacted to arrange the date and time of your interview.
