Council Approves Labor Agreement

The South Burlington City Council unanimously approved a simple one-year extension of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City and the South Burlington chapter of AFSCME Local 1343 representing employees at the Department of Public Works and at City Hall.  The only significant modification of the contract was a combined “step increase” and Cost of Living (COLA) increase of 2.6%.  The current contract expires on June 20, 2021 and so the new contract will be in effect from July 1, 2021 until June 30, 2022.  Both parties to the contract recognize there will be a new City management team in place on July 1, 2021 and this provides an additional year under the terms of the existing contract so that a longer-term agreement can be negotiated with new management.
