VOLUNTEER FOR GREEN UP DAY 2021, SATURDAY MAY 1!

VOLUNTEER FOR Green Up Day 2021, SATURDAY MAY 1!

Always the first Saturday in May, this year Saturday May 1 marks 51 years of proudly continuing Vermont’s unique Green Up Day tradition.

Volunteers statewide will come together in their communities to tackle trash and litter along roadsides, in public spaces, natural landscapes and waterways. Vermont was the first state in the nation to designate one special day for cleaning the entire state.

While COVID protocols prevented participation last year, we are eager to jump back onboard this year.  Organized again by the South Burlington Land Trust, in partnership with the South Burlington Rotary Club and with the active support and participation of City staff.

Here’s how you can participate;

Our set up will look a little different than in past years.  We will be placing a box of bags in our vestibule at City Hall 575 Dorset Street.  You can pick them up anytime between 9:00 AM -4:00 PM Monday – Friday.  We ask that you take a max of 4 bags per household.  Please only take what you will fill.

If you have any specific questions and or the need for more bags, please email Andrea Leo at aleo@sburl.com
Or

Bags will be available Saturday May 1 from 9 am to 1 pm in the parking lot at City Hall, 575 Dorset Street.

This will also be the drop-off point for ALL trash collected. There is no roadside pickup.

Please bring your own masks and gloves.  Masks are required when dropping off or picking up bags.

This year, participants will determine their own locations to collect trash. When dropping off the bags we would like to keep track of what road you picked up on and how many bags you filled.
