April Stools

Anyone who has been out and about this early spring has been witness to the uncovering of some rather stinky behavior.  DOG POOP IS EVERYWHERE!!!  Calls are coming in fast and furious about the sadness and frustration that our community is experiencing by the amount of dog poop that seems to be piling up on our pathways, in our parks and in our open spaces.  Even the poop that is bagged ( a great first step) has been seen flung into bushes, trees, or simply left in a path way.  Our DPW crew has been busy filling mutt mitt stations and getting out all the season trash receptacles, but we need your help to ensure that this problem does not continue.  Please pick up after your dog and dispose of the waste properly in a trash receptacle.  We are working hard to correct the damage done over the winter, and appreciate the volunteer participation in the Wheeler April Stools dog poop pick up event last weekend. 9 industrial garbage bags of poop were picked up from that site in a couple of hours by dedicated volunteers.  We are so thankful for their help and support!  If you would like to be part of a volunteer program at our next park, please reach out to our Department by calling 846-4108 to get on a caller list.  Interested in hosting an April Stools event in your neighborhood park?  We can support you with coordinating a time, messaging to the community, volunteer solicitation as well as supplying bags and gloves for volunteers.  It is time to clean up our act and to “Scoop the Poop”! Whose with us?
