Season's Out of Time - Clock Dedication

Season's Out of Time - Clock Dedication

Monday, June 6, the South Burlington Public Art Committee hosted the dedication for Season’s Out of Time, the public art piece commissioned for the South Burlington Public Library and City Hall at 180 Market Street.  Helen Riehle, City Council Chair, led the dedication emphasizing the important role of public art in the community.  Penne Tompkins, Public Art Committee Chair, also spoke about the selection process and introduced Philip Godenschwager, the artist (see photo), noting that the ceremony was being held one year after the installation of the art clock.  Godenschwager thanked the Committee and the community for supporting the work.  He noted the many Vermont artisans and companies that played a role in the production of the piece.  He also talked about Season’s Out of Time being built during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and some of the challenges this presented.  The clock is installed in the Library monumental stair and may be viewed during hours that the Library is open.
