Want to get outside with the whole family but not sure where would be a good place to go for a bike ride? The South Burlington Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and Recreation and Parks Department have developed 3 family friendly bike rides to help you plan a day exploring the City by bike! The routes use a combination of shared use paths and small neighborhood streets so you can get around comfortably. As with every ride, follow a few simple rules to help everyone stay safe:
- Make sure that everyone is wearing a helmet and obeying road signs.
- Remember, a bicycle is considered a vehicle while riding on a road and riders must travel on the right side of a road in the same directions that motorized vehicles are operating.
- When riding on the recreation paths you must yield to pedestrians.
- At most crosswalks, the best option is to get off your bike and walk with your bike across the road.
