Invasive Plant Removal Day

Invasive Plant Removal Day coming up this Saturday (May 20th), from 9 am – 12 pm, at City Center Park.  This is a follow-up event to our training event that was held on April 29th.  That day we removed about 4,000 individual buckthorn plants from the site, and a volunteer has continued to go back and is up to a count of 9,000 plants removed on her own.  It’s a pretty impressive start for this program.

Our trainer will be present to assist with the identification of the plants, as well as tips on removal of them.  If you were not able to attend our training, that is ok!  Please come and join us.  There will be plenty of return Weed Warriors present to help you.

We will meet at the Iby Street entrance to the park. Parking will be found along the sides of Iby Street.

As always, we are reminding everyone to come prepared for this event.  Please wear sturdy shoes (boots recommended), long pants, long sleeves or layers, a hat, bug spray, and sunscreen.  We will have refreshments, but bring your own water bottle so you can have it with you in the park.  The City will have gloves; but if you have a pair you like, please bring those.

This event will happen rain or shine so definitely come prepared.
