Adam Matth, a South Burlington resident, is your new director of Recreation & Parks. In his words, he’s joining, “a great staff within the department, including Travis, Brett, and Rebecca. The three of them are the driving force behind turning the department goals into a reality within the community when it comes to our parks, programs, events, and Senior Center.”
Adam has worked with the Houston Astros, Lynchburg Hillcats, and UVM Athletics. Before joining the City of South Burlington team, he was assistant general manager of the Vermont Lake Monsters, where he had plenty of experience putting on big events.
Adam sees Recreation & Parks’ programming and events as “a thread in the fabric of the community,” and is excited for the opportunity to bring people together. “Events and parks play a unique role in communities, and can be used to create connections between individuals, families, organizations, and community partners that may otherwise not have had day to day interactions with each other,” said Adam.
He notes Recreation & Parks is continuously looking to provide programs and events that represent and engage all members of the public. Mark your calendar for the upcoming Winter Lights Kickoff on December 1st at Veterans Memorial Park, and the senior holiday dinner on December 8th. Interested seniors can register online at recandparks.sbvt.gov starting November 17th through December 1st.
