Application Period for Committee Service Opens Soon
The City will soon begin advertising for applications to fill open seats on the various South Burlington City Committees. The City Council appoints South Burlington residents to a multitude of committees that cover areas such as planning, energy, natural resources, bike and pedestrian facilities, recreation and parks, economic development, affordable housing and more. The Council also appoints representatives to the Library Board of Trustees.
Each appointment to a committee is for a set period of time and as such, there are expiring terms on most every committee. The City normally places an ad in the Other Paper as well as City News and our various social media outlets to let residents know what committee seats are open and how to apply.
This year we will begin the committee application and review process in late March. Applicants will be given a period of time to apply and then staff will arrange for an interview with the Council. After interviews are completed the Council will make the appointments and applicants will be notified of the outcome. Deadline for all Applications will be on April 12, 2021.
We expect that the entire process will be completed by the end of June with terms beginning on July 1. Please monitor South Burlington City News and our social media as well as The Other Paper for further information on how to apply.
