Hometown Watercolorists Show at South Burlington Public Art Gallery

Hometown Watercolorists Show at South Burlington Public Art Gallery

Gallery Opening Reception Thursday November 4

South Burlington, VT October 20, 2021) – The South Burlington Public Art Gallery will open its next show with an exhibition by Vermont watercolor painters called Hometown Watercolorists. The show features work by five Signature members of the Vermont Watercolor Society, three of whom are South Burlington residents, Martin Lalonde, Lynn Cummings and Lauren Wooden. The other members of the group show are Joey Bibeau of Essex and Alice Eckles of Middlebury.

State Representative Martin Lalonde was the first artist committee members reached out to about the idea of a watercolor show, knowing of his work as a painter and as president of the Vermont Watercolor Society. The idea took shape quickly as these accomplished Vermont artists all agreed to be in the show. A wonderful aspect of this group show is giving the public an opportunity to see many styles of watercolor painting, from landscapes to portraits and abstract works.

Hometown Watercolorists will hang in the city’s new exhibit space at South Burlington Public Library and City Hall at 180 Market Street.  The public is invited to the opening Thursday November 4, 5:30- 7 p.m. The gallery is operated by the city’s Public Art Selection Committee.

The gallery is available to the public whenever the Public Library, City Hall, or Senior Center are open, Monday- Thursday 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2p.m. “Hometown Watercolorists” will run through January 7, 2022.
