With the advent of newer, faster, more capable, and safer phone technology, all phone providers have announced that the 20 year old 3G platform is being retired this year. SO… if you or a family member phone predate Samsung 4S or I-phone 6, your phone won’t be able to call 911.
This retirement effects home security systems, vehicle tracking devices, some older medical devices and call pendants. (think Life Alert and other companies). The phone companies are reaching out to its 3G customers to tell them of the systems retirement date and offer new phones and devices discounts to upgrade that old favorite flip phone or blackberry.
Please take a few moments to check to be sure yours and your loved ones phones won’t be affected by this change over. If you get confused, call your service provider or give it to an older child or an older grandchild and they can help you out.
